SAP Calculations
SAP calculations are required for new-build dwellings, heavily glazed extensions, and change-of-use projects to residential, in order to demonstrate compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations.
The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the recognised methodology used to assess the energy performance of residential buildings. It evaluates the expected energy use of a property based on key factors such as building fabric, insulation levels, heating systems, ventilation, and lighting.
The assessment produces a SAP rating on a scale from 1 to 100+, representing the overall energy efficiency of the dwelling. A rating of 100 indicates zero net energy cost, while ratings above 100 suggest the building may generate more energy than it consumes.
What We Provide
As designed SAP calculations for Building Control submission
Design stage advice to improve SAP scores
Iterations to achieve compliance where required
As built SAP calculations and final documentation
Clear guidance on achieving Part L requirements
Why It Matters
Getting SAP wrong can lead to delays at Building Control, redesign work, or additional costs late in the project.
Early input ensures:
Compliance is achieved efficiently
Design changes are minimised
Cost effective solutions are identified early
Accreditation
3CO Limited is accredited as an On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) through Elmhurst Energy.
All SAP calculations are carried out in line with current methodologies and regulatory requirements.
