Non-Domestic EPCs

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for non-domestic buildings provide an assessment of the energy efficiency of commercial properties, including offices, retail units, and other non-residential buildings.

Each building is rated from A to G, with A representing the highest level of efficiency and G the lowest. The assessment considers building fabric, heating and cooling systems, ventilation, and lighting to evaluate overall performance.

When an EPC is Required

On the Isle of Man, EPCs are required for new commercial buildings to demonstrate compliance with Building Regulations and confirm the energy performance of the completed development.

They may also be requested as part of property transactions, leasing, or funding requirements.

What the EPC Includes

  • An overall energy efficiency rating

  • Breakdown of building performance

  • Estimated energy use

  • Recommendations for improving efficiency

This provides a clear baseline for understanding how the building performs and where improvements can be made.

Supporting Energy Improvements

Non-domestic EPCs and energy assessments can support wider energy reduction strategies.

This includes identifying opportunities to reduce energy use, lower operating costs, and improve environmental performance.

They can also support businesses engaging with schemes such as the Business Emissions Saving Scheme, administered by the Isle of Man Government.
